Dear Friends,
We continue building tools that expand access to information and opportunity for people navigating the federal system. Going forward, we’ll update those changes on our blog. Below we offer an update on what we’ve gotten done this month.
New Release-Date Projection Calculator
We’ve published a new calculator to help people estimate projected release dates. The calculator provides release-date projections based on:
Date imprisonment began
Length of sentence
First Step Act eligibility
RDAP eligibility
Statutory good-time credits
At this stage, the calculator does not factor in time spent in pretrial custody. We may add that functionality later. We strive to give people practical tools that help them understand timelines, plan effectively. We want them to plan better for the journey ahead, and to build mitigation strategies that will assist their transition to society at the earliest possible time. Good planning can help.
Artificial Intelligence Bot
We’ve upgraded the Artificial Intelligence bot on our website at PrisonProfessors.org. Members of our community should use the AI bot to receive immediate responses to many common questions about sentencing, prison preparation, self-directed programming, and release planning.
As a nonprofit, our mission is to provide free educational resources at scale. Because of that commitment, we are not able to provide individualized human consultation through the nonprofit platform.
Option for Live Human Interaction
Some people have asked for direct interaction with a live person. For those who want that level of engagement, we partnered with a sponsor (Link to site in footer). This is a separate, fee-based platform that offers:
Group webinars
One-on-one strategy sessions
A link appears at the bottom of our website for those who wish to explore it. We want all members of our community to understand that:
Prison Professors remains a nonprofit offering free resources.
Resilient Strategy Pro is a separate commercial enterprise.
Anyone who visits that site is leaving our nonprofit platform.
Our sponsor donates 30 percent of all revenue to support the mission of Prison Professors.
We have structured the messaging carefully so that visitors clearly understand when they are transitioning from the nonprofit site to a fee-based service.
Wizard for Profiles:
Steve, our engineer, is building a new wizard to make it easier for people to begin building profiles that record all the ways that they’re preparing for success upon release.
We remain committed to providing free, accessible resources that empower individuals and families to prepare, document progress, and advocate effectively. As always, thank you for being part of our community.
