Upgrading Our Platform to Empower Justice-Impacted Lives

At Prison Professors we are continually striving to improve outcomes for justice-impacted individuals.

To make our digital platforms as accessible and responsive as possible, we have rolled out several major updates to prisonprofessors.org. These upgrades dramatically accelerate performance, enhance course interactivity, and scale our backend infrastructure.

1. Launching our New Interactive Playbook Viewer

Our core guide, "Playbook: Become the CEO of Your Life", has been completely revitalized on our website.

  • Lightning-Fast Speeds: We retired our old Google Drive embed on the /playbook page, replacing it with a new, high-performance Interactive PDF Viewer.

  • CDN Cloudflare R2 Hosting: The playbook document is now hosted on our dedicated, high-speed CDN assets server (assets.prisonprofessors.org). This eliminates page-loading lag and bypasses CDN caching issues so visitors always see the freshest version.

  • Dynamic Interactivity: We updated the playbook asset itself to be fully interactive. Readers can now directly click social media feed icons, click the email address to instantly mail playbook@prisonprofessors.org, and access pathways to our sponsor Release Strategy Pro directly from the viewer.

2. Streamlining Sponsor Integrations

We updated the Playbook's Disclaimer to feature a dedicated letter of encouragement: "A Message from Our Sponsor".

  • Penned by our brand ambassador Justin Paperny of Release Strategy Pro, this section emphasizes the core value that the tools, guides, and courses provided by the Prison Professors Charitable Corporation are 100% free of charge.

3. Scaling our Backend Database and Book Program

To support our nationwide distribution of physical workbooks, we overhauled the backend architecture of our platform (powered by Convex and Clerk).

  • Queue Refactoring: We optimized the data read budget for the pending-queue system inside our Book Program administrator tool. Bounding this budget ensures our servers remain incredibly stable and responsive even as thousands of profiles are synced or verified.

  • Admin Collaboration: We consolidated and standardized our code repositories, and introduced secure administrative invite pathways to safely onboard new support team members.
