Terms of Use
Effective Date: August 27, 2026
Last Updated: August 27, 2026
Welcome to Prison Professors. These Terms of Use govern access to prisonprofessors.org, the Profiles platform, and related educational resources operated by Prison Professors Charitable Corporation. By accessing or using the site, you agree to these Terms.
Profile publication is governed by the Participant Consent & Publication Agreement where that agreement applies. These Terms do not override that agreement.
Eligibility and account responsibility
You must be able to form a binding agreement to create an account. If you create or manage an account for someone else, you represent that you are authorized to do so. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping login credentials confidential.
Informational and educational purpose
Content on this website and on the Profiles platform is for informational and educational purposes. Materials, including text, images, videos, calculators, and other content, are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
No attorney-client relationship and no legal advice
Prison Professors is not a law firm. Use of this website, the Profiles platform, courses, calculators, or related resources does not create an attorney-client relationship. The information provided is not legal advice and should not be treated as such. Consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.
No guaranteed outcomes
We do not guarantee sentence reductions, release dates, placements, credits, parole, employment, or any other result. Official dates and eligibility decisions remain with the Bureau of Prisons, courts, and other authorities.
Participant-submitted content
Profiles may include biographies, journals, book reports, release plans, and other materials submitted by or on behalf of a participant. You are responsible for the accuracy of content you submit and for ensuring you have the right to submit it.
Limited license to review and publish authorized content
Where you authorize publication, you grant Prison Professors a limited license to review, host, format, and publish that authorized content on the Profiles platform and related nonprofit channels. This license is only as broad as needed to provide those services. It does not transfer ownership of your content.
Prohibited content and conduct
You agree not to use the site to break the law, harass others, impersonate another person, interfere with the service, submit malware, or post content that infringes another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights. We may refuse or remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
Moderation, redaction, removal, and de-indexing
We may moderate, redact, unpublish, or de-index profile content when required by the Participant Consent & Publication Agreement, these Terms, a legal request, or our operational judgment. Requests to withdraw published profile content are handled under that agreement where it applies.
Third-party privacy and intellectual-property rights
Do not submit another person's personal information, correspondence, or copyrighted material unless you have the right to do so. We may remove content that appears to violate third-party rights.
Account suspension or termination
We may suspend or terminate access to an account or to published content if we believe these Terms have been violated, if the account is used in a way that creates risk to participants or the organization, or if we must do so to operate the service.
Security limitations
We take reasonable steps to protect the service, but no online system is completely secure. You use the site with that understanding. Notify us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised.
Third-party links and separate commercial services
The site may link to third-party websites, including separate commercial services such as Release Strategy Pro. Those services have their own terms. Prison Professors does not control them, and purchasing them is not required to use our free nonprofit resources. See our Release Strategy Pro disclosure.
Changes to the terms
We may update these Terms. The Last Updated date will change when we do. Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
