Every person has a story—but not everyone takes the time to write it. We encourage members of our community to publish personal biographies that show where they came from, what they’ve learned, and how they’re preparing for success. Writing a biography is an exercise in ownership and transformation. It helps others—judges, case managers, family members, and employers—understand the individual behind the record. These stories become powerful tools for self-advocacy and personal development.
We ask each member to write a personal biography—not to explain away the past, but to show how they’ve learned from it. A well-written biography can become a foundation for clemency petitions, reentry planning, or employment readiness. It also helps others see the mindset of someone working to reconcile with society and prepare for a better future. Writing it once isn’t enough. We encourage members to revise, refine, and expand their biographies as they grow—because change isn’t a one-time event; it’s a daily commitment.
