When we launched our website and program, we set out to build a platform that incentivizes progress and personal leadership. Because most prison systems provide little transparency—or encouragement—we designed Prison Professors Talent to showcase what success looks like. Instead of relying on the system to spread the message, we rely on the people doing the work. Since July 2025, we’ve focused on building awareness around the importance of forming “tribes”—peer-led communities that inspire self-directed learning and accountability. It's one of the key strategies in growing this grassroots movement.
We believe the most effective way to transform prison culture is from the inside out. When someone takes the initiative to teach others how to use Prison Professors Talent, they become an ambassador of this movement. By building a tribe, they not only earn recognition and points—they help shift the mindset of those around them. Tribes inspire accountability, motivate participation, and give individuals the confidence to believe in their future. As more people originate tribes, we build data that shows how peer influence creates change—and why empowering leaders inside prison walls is essential to meaningful reform.
